Janis Herold

RM, B.Ed, BHSc

Janis did her first degree, a B. Ed, at McGill University and taught high school English and Math in Ottawa for a few years. She was introduced to Midwifery during her first pregnancy and birth, and through this amazing experience found her true calling.

Janis chose to stay home and have two more children first. She started her own business teaching prenatal classes and infant massage. She became a Breastfeeding Buddy and helped to develop their prenatal breastfeeding workshop.

When her third child started school, she went back to university for her Midwifery degree, this time at McMaster University in Hamilton. She completed placements in St. Jacobs, Stratford, Guelph, Hamilton, Cambridge and KW.

She teaches Neonatal Resuscitation to midwives as well as at Grand River Hospital.

Janis has lived in Waterloo since 2004 and feels fortunate to be able to serve the families in the KW community, which she has chosen to call home. She strongly supports informed choice and is passionate about providing safe and supportive care to the people with whom she works.

When she is not working, Janis enjoys long walks on the beach and romantic dinners.
