Kaitlyn Schmidt

“Hi there- my name is Katie (she/her), I’m a second year McMaster midwifery student and I’m very excited to be joining the Blue Heron team! As someone born and raised in the KW region, I feel extremely honoured to experience my first clinical placement within the community.

Prior to attending McMaster University, I received a Bachelor of Science with a minor in Biology and Psychology from the University of Waterloo. Throughout this degree, my passion for social justice and reproductive healthcare blossomed, which inspired me to pursue a career in midwifery. In the time between my university programs, I completed a full spectrum doula course through Birthing Advocacy Doula Training to begin to develop the knowledge and skillset imperative in birth work.

In my free time I enjoy camping, travelling, and spending time with my partner & cats (sometimes the cats even camp and travel with us).

I look forward to meeting you all!
